I hope everyone had a great fall break! Now we have just this last week to finish the first quarter. It flew by so quickly!
Math---We are comparing the lengths of three objects and we are also using nonstandard items like paperclips and cubes to measure various items. This week we will take a posttest on +/- word problems to 10. We are using the t to identify the numbers in the problem, draw a picture representation, write a number sentence, and give the answer.
Reading---I am giving DRAs (Developmental Reading Assessments) to individual students this week. I look forward to sharing the results with you at our conference in a couple of weeks. Students should also know the first 75 sight words by this Friday.
Writing---We are finishing up our unit on narrative writing. We will take our quarter 1 narrative writing posttest on Wednesday. I know that the students have greatly improved since the pretest, which was given during the first week of school.
Social Studies---We are learning about needs and wants, goods and services, and producers and consumers.
Spelling words for this week are final consonant clusters: -nk, -nd, nt, and -ng.
Please return your conference slips as soon as possible. If you are unable to attend at your assigned time, I will make an effort to reschedule.
Early Release---Thursday, Oct. 12
