It's Red Ribbon Week! Please refer to the sheet that was sent home last week for all of the great activities this week.
Thank you for attending your child's conference. I enjoyed meeting with all of you. We had 100% attendance! It's great when home and school work together to benefit the children!
Math---We are working on subtraction to 20. Students are learning strategies to help with this. They should be able to explain counting back, counting up, using a number line, using pictures and manipulatives, and using related addition facts. We are working on building fluency.
Reading---We will use text features in nonfiction books to help locate information. We will discuss headings, table of contents, bold words, glossaries, index, captions, maps, and charts.
Writing---We continue to write informational stories this quarter. We are currently writing about beluga whales.
Spelling---Words for this week are all long a words.
Social Studies---We will finish up our unit on Benjamin Franklin and we will begin a unit on Thomas Jefferson.
Let's have a great week!
