Magnificent Monday!!!

Hello parents,

Here is the latest and greatest for my class this week.  Next Wednesday school is closed for election day. This week is red ribbon week to fight against drugs. Each day we have a theme. Wednesday is canned goods day.  Please bring in canned goods. Thursday is sweatsuit day.  You can wear your sweatsuit. Friday is wear red day.  The book fair continues until Thursday. Tuesday the book fair will be opened until 6. We will have a wordlywise test tomorrow.  We will have a quiz over lesson 3,4,&5 in Chapter 3 in Social Studies on Wednesday.  We will have a chapter test on Friday over chapter 3 in Social Studies. We are working on division this week along with the distributive property of multiplication. Next week will will work on Geometry. In spelling we are on unit six.  Students will have Spelling homework daily until we test next week.  Please sign your child's agenda each day and their reading log on weekends as well. Please make sure they have a healthy snack each day.

Merry Monday

Good day parents,

I hope you had a great weekend.  Here's the scoop on what's going on in Ms. Johnson's class this week.  We are working on division this week.  Students will have daily homework in division and we will have a quiz this Friday. In writing we are working on summarizing using story maps.  We should be finished with our final writing by next week. We will begin a new unit in wordlywise this week. We will test over it next Tuesday, please make sure your child studies nightly.  In Social studies we are working on Chapter 3 early explorers.  Students will have a quiz on friday over lesson 1&2 of chapter 3. Please ask them questions about what they learned. In Spelling we will have a Spelling test on Thursday over unit 5. Please make sure your child is practicing nightly. I will be sending home AR progress reports on your child's ar progress so far.  Please discuss this report with your child.  AR grades are very important to your child's reading grade. CRCT practice information went home with your child in his/her Thursday folder. Please allow them to go on the computer and take practice tests for the CRCT.  It's never too early to start.  Please sign your child's agenda nightly and his/her reading log as well. Each child should bring a healthy snack to school each day. Please email me with any questions.

Marvelous Monday

Good day parents,

I hope you enjoyed your weekend! Welcome back to Monday!  We have a lot going on this week.  Here is the latest and greatest in Ms. Johnson's class. 

This week I will be sending home a letter for a CRCT website, where your child can go and complete practice tests for the CRCT.  These tests are very helpful, in that they will show you your child's area of weakness now, so you can work on it before the test comes up next April.  I will also use this website during my language arts center time. Wednesday is early release day. Students will be released at 12:15. Please make sure your child knows how he/she will get home. Friday is our field trip to the Atlanta history Center.  Field trip froms were due by last Friday.  Please make sure the filed trip is paid for by tomorrow, if your child is planning on going. This week we are working on unit 5 in spelling and unit 6 in wordlywise.  Please make sure your child practices spelling everyday.  In addition, all students should study wordlywise vocabulary everyday. In math we will be working on multiplication arrays, which will help in 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication. Next week we will be working on division. We will begin a new unit in Social Studies this nine weeks.  For the next 4 weeks we will be learning about Early explorers, colonization and the revolution. Please make sure your child is writing down his/her homework in their agenda daily.  Please sign his/her agenda and reading log everyday. Please send a healthy snack everyday. Students should be taking a minimum of 1 ar test every week. This is a vital part of their reading grade. Please make sure you talk with your child about the book before they take an ar test on it. Students should practice math facts everyday at home.

Report cards will go home in Thursday folders. Please sign your child's report card signature card and return it on Friday. If you have any questions or would like to see me, I'm available for conferences the following week after 3:45 on Monday and Wednesday.
