Writing - Responding to Reading (Literature) and we will be reading some traditional text within our reading groups.  Traditional text includes fiction stories, fairy tales, fables, etc.

Spelling - Words Their Way Sort #13 - Spelling patterns - consonant "le" as in table and middle

Reading Groups - Comprehension, summarzing, understanding plot and mood.

Healthy snacks, please!  We are seeing a lot of chips, little debbie snacks, and such coming in for snack, please send your child with a healthy snack like cheese crackers, dry cereal, gogurts, etc.

Science Experiment on the Three States of Matter

Today, our class experimented with the three states of matter!  We had a great time of adding a solid to a liquid to form a gas.  The first thing we did was to fill a film canister half full of water.  Then, we added the solid (an Alka Seltzer tablet) and quickly placed the lid on the film canister and let the magic happen.

Please talk to your student about the experiement.  We believe that they had lots of fun.  Please check out the pictures!

Native American Projects

Our classes worked from a Choice board to create presentations on six different Native American Tribes.  Please take a minute to view these presentations.

Physical Features Test Results :-)

 

We are so proud of our students! We had 33 out of the 44 students not only pass the Physical Features Test, but they made a 100%. We also had another 3 students to make an 88%. We hope you continue to study for future tests the way you have studied for this one! Don't forget that we have our test on Continents and Oceans coming up on Tuesday! Study, Study, Study!

Friday, 10/2 - Field trip to The Youth Museum.  We leave at 11:00 and should be back by 2:00.  Be sure to send in the money and the permission slip!

Friday, 10/2 - Individual Fall pictures.  We will be having our fall individual pictures (for the yearbook) this day as well.  If your child would like for your child to wear something special, then change for our field trip, that is fine with us.  We are supposed to be getting pictures done early, so therefore we should have plenty of time to change clothes for the field trip.

Saturday, 10/3 - Pitner's 7th Annual Fall Festival.  11- 3.  There will be lots of great food, some shopping by local vendors, a teacher dunk booth, games and lots of family fun.  Please think about donating some items to put toward our basket.

Tuesday, 10/6 - Reflections entries due to PTSA.

Wednesday, 10/7 - Student of the Month Breakfast in the Media Center.

Friday, 10/9 - Last day of first nine week period

Thursday, 10/15 - Chick-fil-A Night at Chick-fil-A on Chastain Road.

Homework Policy

1) Students will write their homework daily in their agendas.  Please be sure you see the agenda, the homework and you initial the agenda.  Also, in addition this year, we have a communication log that will also need to be signed.

2) Students will generally have 20 minutes of reading, some math and occassionally a spelling contract to complete.  Please make sure that students are having their contract and reading logs signed daily.

3) Students will have to complete his/her homework during recess, if they do not complete it and turn it in on the day that it is due.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding with this policy.  We expect this to be the best year yet!

Welcome
