We had a busy week getting back from break! We had our second 4-H lesson that included 2 great presentations from students in our class. We all learned a lot about animation and wind energy.
Coming up next week:
Writing: We will be adding the finishing touches to our biographies such as pictures and any last minute edits and then celebrating our hard work. We will also finish our Smoking Projects for Health to present in the Media Center on Thursday.
Reading:We are continuing to work on being text talkers when we respond to what we read. We will be reading a variety of texts and practicing some constructed responses.
Math: We have kicked off fractions! We are working on interpreting a fraction as a division problem and equivalent fractions. We have used some hands-on strategies and been building models.
Social Studies: Next week we will look at Westward Expansion at the Turn of the Century and the effect on Native Americans. We will finish our unit on Tuesday, review on Wednesday and have our test Thursday. Study Guides are going home this weekend, and I will post a copy on the blog!
Friday: 2 Things!
1. Bio-book Celebration 8:30-9:00
Students will have published their biography books that we have been working hard on for several weeks. We will have a little time for other classes, administration, teachers, and YOU (if you can make it) to come check out their writing. If you are in the area and available, please swing by anytime from 8:30-9 to look at their hard work and completed books!
2. Performing Arts Field Trip 10:45-1:30
We have our first field trip of the year to hear the symphony. We will eat lunch in the classroom a few minutes early and then hop on the bus to head to the Lassiter High School Concert Hall. It should be a great performance!
